To deliver responsive, ethical, and scientifically grounded cultural resource solutions that support sustainable development and safeguard California’s diverse cultural heritage.

Our Mission

CoreStone Archaeology is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE2501924) and small business (SB-PW and SB-Micro # 2045099) providing responsive and cost-effective cultural resource consulting throughout California. Led by Registered Professional Archaeologist Katherine Sinsky, we offer desktop reviews, survey support, and compliance reporting tailored to CEQA and Section 106 requirements. In addition to direct client work, CoreStone partners with planners, biologists, and CRM professionals to provide reporting and compliance documentation support. We help busy teams meet deadlines, reduce rework, and deliver quality results without increasing overhead.

How We Got Here

After years of seeing compliance treated as a box-checking exercise that delayed projects and limited meaningful engagement, CoreStone was founded to offer a better approach. Launched in La Honda with a practical focus, the firm provides efficient, collaborative cultural resource support grounded in strong relationships and clear communication.

What Sets Us Apart

  • Quick-turn desktop reviews and sensitivity assessments that deliver clear information early in your planning process.

  • Strategic collaboration with trusted specialists, matched to your specific project needs.

  • Transparent pricing at a competitive $175/hour baseline rate, with no hidden overhead or extra fees.

  • Smart use of technology including GIS, photogrammetry, and data synthesis tools to improve workflow efficiency and maintain regulatory compliance.

Why “CoreStone”

In archaeology, a corestone or "core" is a rock used as raw material for stone tools. It represents both a source and an enduring foundation.

Our name reflects that idea. CoreStone Archaeology provides practical, responsive support grounded in cultural insight and clear regulatory guidance. Like archaeological cores reveal past choices and adaptations, our approach helps clients make informed decisions and confidently navigate evolving requirements.
